Governance Process

EA is an iterative and ongoing process that requires continuous monitoring, evaluation, and refinement. Regularly review and update the artifacts, assess the impact of changes on the architecture, and adjusts the roadmap and priorities as needed to ensure that the EA initiative remains relevant and effective.

Enterprise Architecture - Governance Process
Launch

This phase involves defining the scope, objectives, and stakeholders of the EA initiative. It includes establishing governance structures, securing executive sponsorship, and aligning the EA effort with business goals and priorities.

Current State Assessment

In this phase, the organization conducts a comprehensive assessment of its current IT landscape, including systems, applications, data, technology infrastructure, and organizational capabilities. This involves collecting and analyzing relevant data, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis), and documenting the current state architecture.

Future State Vision

Based on the findings of the current state assessment, the organization develops a vision for the future state architecture. This includes defining target architectures, principles, standards, and guidelines that align with business objectives and address key challenges and opportunities.

Gap Analysis & Roadmap

The organization conducts a gap analysis to identify the gaps between the current state and future state architectures. This involves comparing the current capabilities and architectures with the desired future state, prioritizing areas for improvement, and developing action plans to address the identified gaps. This includes defining a sequence of initiatives, projects, and milestones, estimating resource requirements, and establishing timelines and dependencies.

Project implementation

In this phase, the organization executes the initiatives and projects outlined in the roadmap. This involves implementing changes to systems, applications, processes, and organizational structures, as well as monitoring progress, managing risks, and addressing issues and challenges as they arise.
